About Goldfish :
Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), belongs to the family of Cyprinidae. It is a freshwater fish and it was one of the earliest fish that was domesticated. It is one of the most common aquarium fish. The goldfish was first domesticated in China more than a thousand years ago. After that the different breeds of this fish have been developed. These fishes vary in body shape and size from one another. Apart from shape and size they also vary in color. They are of different color pattern like red, black, brown, orange, yellow and red. Their life span is of about 10 years.

Goldfish History :
The images of a goldfish have been depicted in the bowl all over the world from ancient pottery right from the Ming Dynasty in China to recent times. There are around 125 varieties of goldfish. All these varieties are thought to have their origin from the Crucian carp. The story of this began long before hobbyists began keeping pet fish in aquariums.

Goldfish Behavior and Habitat :
Goldfish behavior and habitats can vary greatly both because goldfish are kept in many types of environments. Goldfish can also show a range of social behaviors. When new fish are introduced and kept in an aquarium, some aggressive "bully-like" social behaviors may sometimes become obvious. Some of the activities can be chasing the new fish, or fin nipping. But, these types of behavior stop in a couple of days.

Goldfish Breeding :
Goldfish breeding have a long history of over 2000 years ago in ancient China. Goldfish like the all other cyprinids, lay eggs. These fish produce eggs, which have adhesive that attach to aquatic vegetation. The eggs usually take (3-5) days to hatch. The water temperature should be kept around (66-75) degree Fahrenheit.

Goldfish Diseases and Treatment :
To keep the diseases away from goldfish regular maintenance and water-quality checks are necessary. However, still illnesses occur, even in the best-kept aquariums and ponds. When the goldfish get affected by the disease then it can be seen floating at the surface. And this is the time when these fish needs effective treatment. Therefore, these fish should be checked regularly in order to keep them healthy. Fancy goldfish are more disposed to different diseases, which includes bacterial, viral, and fungal. Thus, these goldfish are needed to be checked regularly.

Goldfish Care :
All the creatures like to live in their natural environment. Therefore, goldfish should be also kept in a condition, which is according to their natural habitat. The aquarium should be big enough and provide enough room for the fish to swim freely. The water, which, is added in the aquarium should also be filtered regularly. The goldfish can be also kept in bowls, which are very popular these days. However, they are not a perfect environment to keep goldfish. These fishes are very easy to care but the most necessary thing is the clean and well-aerated water. And this can be hard to maintain in a goldfish bowl. In addition, there is a chance that housing a goldfish in a bowl may increase the risk of nitrate or ammonia poisoning and stunting the goldfish.
